1. Who we are
Biblocate (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a mobile app and website that help you discover nearby biblical locations and related scripture references. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you:
- Use the Biblocate iOS app (the “App”); and
- Visit our website at biblocate.com, including any pages such as this one (the “Site”).
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can reach us at:
Email: [email protected]
Subject line: “Biblocate Privacy”
2. Overview & key principles
In designing Biblocate, we aimed to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible.
- No account is required to use the App.
- Location is handled on-device to show you nearby biblical places; we do not store your precise location on our own servers.
- We collect email addresses only when you voluntarily join our updates list or contact us.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Because the App is distributed through Apple’s App Store and may be tested through TestFlight, Apple may collect its own diagnostics and analytics data under Apple’s separate privacy policies and terms.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide to us
In the App
- Support emails and feedback. If you use any “Report an issue” or feedback feature in the App, or contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send, which may include your name, email address, device details you include, and the content of your message.
- Favorites and settings (on-device only). Your favorites, filters, and other settings are stored locally on your device. We do not receive this information unless you explicitly send us a screenshot or similar as part of a support request.
On the Site
-
Newsletter and updates form. When you submit your email address through the Site to receive
updates about Biblocate (for example, via a form that posts to a LeadConnector/GoHighLevel webhook),
we collect:
- Your email address; and
- Any additional information you choose to provide in a message field (if present).
- Direct communications. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message.
3.2 Information we process when you enable location
The App can use your device’s location to show how far you are from biblical locations. When you grant location permissions on your device:
- The App receives your location from iOS in order to calculate distances and display nearby locations on the map.
- This location information is used within the App on your device. We do not store your precise location on our own servers.
You can turn location access on or off at any time in your device settings. If you turn it off, the App may still be used, but distance-based features will be limited.
3.3 Automatically collected technical data
Depending on how you access Biblocate, some technical data may be collected automatically:
- App diagnostics and crash data. Apple may collect anonymized or pseudonymized diagnostic and crash data for apps installed from the App Store or via TestFlight. This can include information such as: device type, iOS version, approximate location (e.g., region), crash logs, performance metrics, and usage patterns. We may receive aggregated reports to help identify stability issues, but we do not use these reports to identify individual users.
- Basic Site logs. Like most websites, the infrastructure that hosts biblocate.com may log information such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and access times. This is typically collected for security, reliability, and basic analytics purposes.
4. How we use information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the App and Site. For example, to show nearby locations, operate map features, and deliver content.
- To communicate with you. Including responding to your questions, providing product updates, and sending emails when you have requested updates.
- To improve Biblocate. For example, by reviewing error reports, feedback, and high-level usage trends to refine features and fix bugs.
- To protect the App and Site. Including detecting, preventing, and addressing security, abuse, or technical issues.
- To comply with legal obligations. Where necessary, to respond to lawful requests from authorities or comply with applicable law.
5. Legal bases for processing (where applicable)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or another region that requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on the following bases:
- Performance of a contract: To provide the App and Site features you request.
- Legitimate interests: To maintain and improve the App and Site, secure our services, and communicate with you in ways that you would reasonably expect.
- Your consent: For example, when you choose to receive email updates or enable location services. You may withdraw consent at any time (e.g., unsubscribe or disable location in device settings).
- Legal obligations: When we need to comply with applicable laws or regulatory requirements.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in limited circumstances:
-
Service providers. We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who
help us operate, maintain, and support the App and Site. Examples include:
- Email and CRM services. If our Site’s forms use LeadConnector/GoHighLevel or similar services to store email addresses and send updates, your email may be processed by those platforms solely for these purposes.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers. For hosting the Site, storage, and security.
-
Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request;
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, ourselves, or others; or
- Detect, prevent, or otherwise address security or technical issues.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a successor policy that offers materially similar or stronger protections.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.
- App data on your device. Favorites, filters, and similar settings are stored locally on your device and are retained until you delete the App or clear the App’s data.
- Email addresses for updates. We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails (if provided) or by emailing us at [email protected].
- Support communications. Emails you send to us may be retained for a period of time to help us respond to your request, maintain records, and improve the App.
- Server logs and diagnostics. Basic technical logs and diagnostic data may be retained for a limited period for security, troubleshooting, and service-improvement purposes.
8. Your choices and rights
8.1 App and device settings
- Location permissions. You can enable or disable location access for the App at any time in your device settings. If disabled, the App may still function but without location-based distance features.
- App deletion. Deleting the App from your device removes App data stored locally, such as favorites and configuration settings.
8.2 Email communications
- Unsubscribing. If you no longer wish to receive updates or emails, you may unsubscribe using any unsubscribe mechanism provided in the email (if present), or by contacting us at [email protected] with your request.
8.3 Privacy rights in certain regions
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your data, and the right to object to certain uses.
If you would like to exercise any applicable rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding to your request.
9. Children’s privacy
Biblocate is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected].
10. International transfers
The App and Site may be operated from and hosted on servers located in one or more countries. As a result, your information may be processed in a country that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
Where required by law, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for cross-border transfers of personal information.
11. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the information we handle from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to investigate and, where appropriate, notify you and any applicable authorities.
12. Third-party services and links
The App and Site may contain links to third-party websites or services, or may integrate with third-party providers (for example, when you choose to open directions in Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze, or when our Site uses a third-party form or CRM service).
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before interacting with them.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our App, Site, or applicable laws. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice (such as a notice in the App or on the Site).
Your continued use of the App or Site after any changes to this Privacy Policy will signify your acceptance of the updated policy.
